I have to admit that I typically have a prejudice against “Consultants.” My big picture of a consultant has been that it is someone that comes in and looks over your operation / business / project and gives their “expert opinion” via a written report with big words and leaves. Never to be heard from again…

When I became a food service consultant almost six years ago, I felt they were certainly more involved than what is described above, but maybe not by much. As a manufacturers’ representative, I had called on many and heard tales of many more through my professional colleagues. I thought they were hired by an architect to come in and design the kitchen and then move on to the next project. I envisioned a drawer marked Elementary School or one marked 136 Bed Hospital with Tray Service that they went to for “the plan” if they were hired for that type of project. It seemed like the consultant had some limited interaction with the client, made sure the drawings and specifications were done on time, gave enough information for equipment dealers to bid the job, and provided a punch list at the end of the project.

Perhaps I was wrong about food service consultants. At the very least, I was naive about their job function or what was involved in doing the things described above. However, I have also learned that I do not want to follow the path of a traditional consultant. Yes, Foodservice Solution Group (FSG) is a commercial kitchen design firm and a food service consulting company. But how we go about that and the value it can bring to you and your organization are where we believe we differ greatly from other food service consultants and food service equipment companies that dable in design, too.

We have spent the last several years defining how Foodservice Solution Group (FSG) will look, act, and feel in the marketplace. We have watched, listened, and learned from our clients and design team partners as to what they need in terms of input, expertise, and services. We have brought together a team with varied backgrounds, complementary skill sets, and a single-minded understanding that we are, above all else, a Client Advocate.

Creative. Innovative. Client Focused. Those words constitute our corporate mission and describe our approach to the business we are truly in. Please take a few minutes to walk through our recently launched web site. It is still a work in progress, as is Foodservice Solution Group, but you will certainly get a feel for who we are and the services we hope to provide to the food service community.

Thank you for your time.
